I have been looking at the NSX and I really like the way they look but have never driven one. Being I own a car lot I don't keep my "personal" car for more than a year. I am really enjoying the M and know it is going to be hard to beat. I'm not into spending a fortune on a vehicle but $25k is about my cutoff for the next vehicle. Just wondering what everyone who owns a M thinks of the NSX. I have narrowed it down to 91-93 NSX Porsche 911 90-93? and the E46 M....I drove a E46 M and loved the power but not the bulkier feel.

25k for an e46m? wow...that's a damn good deal. I actually was going to buy an nsx before the m..but a true convert with 4 seats sealed the deal. Nsx is one damn sexy car and I always love to look at them, but performace is about equal and the M is a whole lot newer and more practical.
though, my next car will be a 2000+ 911. I know performace is maybe not even as good, but I HAVE to own one at some point :-)

I have already seen one sell for around $28k at the auto auction with approx 40k miles and it was mint. So I figure by next year when I move on to my next vehicle I should easily be able to score one with 60k or so for around $25k. You don't have to believe me but I don't come on the forum to tell stories. Sure maybe the public can't go get one used at BMW for this price but you know what I can. :bs:

Fair enough, well **** I ASSumed you were shopping like the rest of us. Yes, auto auctions are a whole different story. I guess just make sure the car wasnt in the production run for engines blowing up.
On the other hand, damn the NSX is one sexy car. ALthough, the power is lacking, but a supadupacharger will take care of that =).

My brother has a 94' NSX and that's one sweet car! Maintanence cost can be high though, clutch job alone is around $3000! But from what I've seen and read, it a damn reliable car so even though maintanence is high at least there shouldn't be too many repair bills.
Me personally, I would take an NSX over an M3, even the E46 M3. Sure, it's not as fast as the E46 M3 but it looks nicer and is much more exclusive. Seems like I see 2-3 M3 a day here but maybe see an NSX once every few months if even that.

NSX ...the car that wears out tires twice as fast as an M3. I like them. I have heard they are the most liveable supercar and have a wonderful feel about them. I would go for the NSX if I didn't need the seating, and also enjoyed being looked at. Personally I like to be more incognito than in a fancy car like a Porsche, M3, 355, but have admiration for the engineering in them.

Yeah, I forgot about the tires. My brother said that it needs replacing about every 10-15,000 miles. And those aren't cheap tires either!

If I could get 10-15k out of a set of tires I would shart. Either the tires are rock hard or I would have to drive my age. 5-10k is about all they will last. My car had brand new rubber when I got it. put 5k on odo and am about 25% tread.
Anybody remember the morons who tried to sue Acura because they could only get 3-5k out of the oem rubber. still can not believe they tried that crap. must have been a lawyer.

Don't NOT buy a car because the rubber won't last...that's less a function of the car and more a driver/type of rubber problem.
I will agree with the previous posts that the NSX is supposed to be really really reliable. Go look up an old Car and Driver...or possibly Motortrend article on why they thought that the NSX is one of the best almost supercars out there as far as reliability went.
