And Sirius, I've spent so much time on this board that I actually use the terms "trunk" and "hood" now...

    :haha: :haha: :P

Sirius : Don’t be pi**ed about the M3 badge, its very similar to those that come on the wheels …

    Not pissed.

Ill get me a sticker! w00t.

Yeah, none of these keys are as cool looking as the new E46 keys. Even the one with built in alarm stuff is ugly...though more functional.

I love the looks of the newest E46 key.

my car didn't have one of the fancy keys when i got it either. it's strange your dealers are charging you $50. i only got charged $52 for the key AND an M3 keychain.

the keychain i had wasn't nearly big enough for the ginormous master key.

personally i like the coloured rondel lighted key better than the key with 3 buttons on it.

what do the E46 keys look like?

All current BMW keys look like this, except for the 7 series, which techinally isn't a key, because its a keyless ignition system.

I actually found this on ebay... I can't beleive people are stupid enough to bid on a key that'll never fit their car, as the keys are VIN coded. Morons.

On a side note: WD Pro, I now have a ///M sticker from a wheel attached to my key fob....http://members.cox.net/morpheus91/images/icons/screwy.gif

From the top of the key, the side with the brass on it:

Unlock, then the roudel is lock, and the bottom button is the trunk/panic button.

I broke my key and used the parts from a different key. The dealer doesn't sell individual parts... like buttons, or lights or whatever. I imagine those people buying them are doing what I did... and transplanting some parts to their existing key.
