Good Question,
Well Performance wise.. The VR-4 Blows it out of the water. Well it's a v6 twinturbo AWD car.. plus i had the boost up to 14.5, borla exhaust... i was up near 400hp... The VR-4 is faster in a straight line for sure. Suspension.. wow, the M3 rides like a dream compared to the VR-4, it handles a lil better too. I been noticing I get alot more looks in the M3.. and I got alot in the VR-4.
I raced a M3 in my VR-4 before.. my car was stock.. so was his.. i beat him, then he got a supercharger.. still beat him by 2 cars .. then i got the boost up to 14.5 i was up to 12.9 in the 1/4 mile. So down to it all.. I would go for the M3 anyday.. its classy, fast, and handles like a dream. The VR-4 is "Super" fast, awesome AWD, but the suspension sucked... eats tires too. I get alot more miles to the gallon too.

Sounds sweet.. I had bought my (now) xwife a 3000GTSL back in '92 and, while I loved the styling and the fit and finish was surprisingly good, was pretty uninspired by the performance. Nice cockpit design as well. Of course I really didn't consider a front wheel car drive a real sports car. Was always intrigued by the VR4's though...

if you spend 5 grand on a 95 compared to 5 grand on a 96, the 95 should be faster. you'll have to spend more money on the 96-99 to gain more power.
welcome to german engineering.
No longer true. BMW's OBDII has been cracked, and can now be tuned to deliver every bit of the power that was once only attainable by an OBDI conversion. Therefore given the larger displacement of the OBDII S52, technically $5000 into both engines would have the S52 coming out on top. :nixweiss:
