    Keping your M3!!!

How long do you boys and girls plan to keep your M3??

I've owned mine for the last 2 yrs and driven her about 12K. She is my everyday car, but as you can tell I don't drive very much.

The car has 47+K and in mint condition, the original owner is a good friend of mine, he always kept it in the best of shape and I have done the same.

I am thinking about storing her and only drive her once a week. My goal is to have her in mint condition 10 yrs from now. who know's may become a collectible piece. :soapbox:

    3-99 Silver/grey interior

    H&R racing suspension

    Dinan intake

    Dinan Throttle body

    Dinan air flow meter

    Dinan stage 4 software

    K&N Shortshifter

Other than that she looks stock.

I can't see selling this car. Eventually I'd like to make it a weekend/light track duty car.

So hell yeah I'm going to keep it! It's a timeless machine IMO.

I think about this a lot. At this point, I don't have any plans to get sell mine. I have about 61K on my 98 and I put about 10K miles on her a year. I am the type that gets bored with things quickly but there are so many mods that I can continue to do on this car I don't foresee getting tired of my M for a long long time.

I know someday I will be tempted by the newest car but there is something about having a classic that you can put $10,000 into for FI and blow most things off the road. This makes more financial sense than buying a brand new car. That being said, I will own more cars but I plan to hang on to this one. It is not going to be a garage queen though. Maybe one day it will be a dedicated track car. I am rambling now but these are the things I think about.

I'm planning on keeping mine a long time. When I get older and can afford a different car, I'll make it into a track-only car.

Or I'll buy an Atom Ariel for the track and mod it. I

not having car notes feels good - so i'll prolly keep the M. the Avant on the other hand might be up 4 sale soon. :-)

I have the same intentions as the first two. I plan to keep it as my daily driver at least 5 or 6 more years into adulthood (I'm 20). After school when I have a nice steady job, I'll buy an E39 M5 or E46 M3, haven't really decided yet. I will convert my E36 M to my garage beauty and she'll see some spirited weekend drives/track duty. I won't ever sell my M.

Keep her till she dies. I drove about 16k last year.

I plan on purchasing a new 5 series or possible new three when they have depreciated in next four to five years. Don't see myself selling the m3 except I already have a car that sits in the garage. I currently have 50,000 miles and drive about 12,000 per year

Well, seeing how I've had my car already for 8 years now (original owner of my '97 M3), I guess I'll be keeping her forever. Besides, I only have 75K on her...as far as I'm concerned, that's brand new. BMW engines are bulletproof as long as you take good care of them, which I definitely do. I'm sure I'll get about a quarter million miles out of her before I lay her to rest.~

I really wanted this car the day I saw one. So far nothing has made me want to replace it. You can buy faster cars, but I enjoy a car I can floor safely on the street and wind out when the situation is appropriate. 400 HP would just be a car that I had on the brakes all the time. (= less fun)

I've had the Corvair for 23 years and a Corrado since 93 so I will probably be driving the E36 a long time from now.

I bought my M3 from my boss who i've known for years... well ex-boss and he kept the car in great shape... other than my mis-hap with the side of the road the other night the car is in great condition. I wanted to keep it for life but i've been thinking about a few things and think I might sell it soon.

I want to buy a townhouse and selling this will help. My parents have said if I sell it they will give me on top of what I get for the car around 20,000 to help with the townhouse... can't really beat that. In two or so years I'll buy another one but I will only sell this car to someone I know who will let me take it out every once in a while :-)
