I'm 24 and got my 96 Estoril/Black with 38k miles on her with full immaculate records. The E36 M3 became my dream car 10 years ago at 14 and was the only car I considered once I had the cash. It's mint right now, doesn't see rain or snow and I'll die before it goes no matter what other cars I have. Anything this car needs it will get and if that means a full body-off restoration in 20 years than so be it. I love it.

How long do you boys and girls plan to keep your M3??
I've owned mine for the last 2 yrs and driven her about 12K. She is my everyday car, but as you can tell I don't drive very much.
The car has 47+K and in mint condition, the original owner is a good friend of mine, he always kept it in the best of shape and I have done the same.
I am thinking about storing her and only drive her once a week. My goal is to have her in mint condition 10 yrs from now. who know's may become a collectible piece. :soapbox:
3-99 Silver/grey interior
H&R racing suspension
Dinan intake
Dinan Throttle body
Dinan air flow meter
Dinan stage 4 software
K&N Shortshifter
Other than that she looks stock.
I have 83,000 miles and have no plans to sell. Nothing can bang corners like an E36 M3!!!

keepin my M3 forever, i guess once i settle down and get married...kids... etc prolly like 10-15 yrs from now(scary), then i'll be looking at the New M5, the 2005 M5, which will probably be not so expensive 10-15 yrs from now, but will still be an awesome car. but ill still have my M3, then maby when i get really old... hell maby ill get a brand new one off the production line..... damn wouldnt that be nice
maby here and there i will lease a porsche/MB/lexus just to see if im missin anything...but prolly not heheh

I want to keep mine for as long as I can but i put an insane amount of miles on her. I do about 50-60k miles a year and the M is the daily driver. I am currently building up my LS6 for my RX7 V8 project but the M has to stay a daily driver. I feel bad for dropping so many miles on her but what are you gonna do?

I'm 99% sure I'll never sell this car. And about it being a Collector Piece .. dunno about that - it won't ever be more of a collector's item than an E30 M3 .. i just don't see it happening, considering they stopped hand-making the M motors with the E36 and there are almost an infinite amount of them, compared to E30's in my opinion - which is why I don't plan at keeping it stock at all .. obviously
If I had an E30 M3, though .. i would garage that sucker 3/4 of the year and only spend money to maintain it - not to mod it.

This is the car I've always wanted (well one of them anyway). It's my daily driver (which helps me get up in the morning), but it is slowly becoming a track car. With a family, it's not quite practical, but my wife knows how much I love the car and allows me to mod it so long as we can pay the bills. Sometimes I'll glance at my car not knowing it's mine and think "that's a sweet car", then realize I do own it. I have plans to restore the M w/in the next five years (paint, a litlle body work, some interior upgrades, supercharger, etc.) I think I will have this car until it either dies or I run out of money.
Glad to see everyone else loves their M as much as I do.

Love my car, whether I'm driving it, or babying it so it continues to look sweet for years to come. (It gives me pleasure even when I'm trying to old commuter and the M is just sitting safely and comfortably in the garage)
Also just bought a house, so I'm not buying anything new or near new and having a car payment. Next spring I'll need to build a garage to the house, doesn't have one.
Maybe in 14 months or so, when I'm looking at what everyone tells me with be a big fat tax rebate due to having a mortgage, we'll see what's doable.
Final factor -- I may never be able to get fair price for her, even if I did want to sell. She was stolen, found three days later. Even though stolen with key (so no damage there, long story), relatively minor damage to front end only, and all repairs done at BMW place with full records (Trev's old place in Fairfax), the fact alone will scare away many buyers, or cause insultingly low offers that will piss me off.
