there are different part numbers for blocks.



heads also have different parts numbers.



youd be suprised at actually how many parts the s50b32 and s54 actually share, its a small number.

i've seen most magazines list the m3 to 60 at 4.7-4.8 seconds. i don't remember seeing one that said 4.6 though.

And as Serious said the engines are no way near as similar as you think they are. Yes, the displacement is the same, but aside from that, little is terrible similar.



I too have heard the e36 evo with a 3.64 mated to its 6-speed will walk a little on an e46 m3..though I have never seen this run.

S52 = same motor as a S54.... I think not, if so why didn't they send the Euro E36 motor over to the US because well its the same by your facts. The DEQ wouldn't let that motor over because of emission problems. Not because of the fact it has to much hp.



Again look at the coding of the motor. 2 DIFFERENT MOTORS. 1 S52. other 1 S54.
