Is it possible to get wider tires for stock rims on 99 M3? If so will there be any problems?

No problem at all, you can fit up to 10" wheels with fender mods and correct offsets.
sean, I think he was asking about the biggest tire on a stock (7.5") facory rim. Not the biggest rim you an fit under the car.
eace:
I have run 235/40/17 tires on three different sets of 7.5" factory rims in the past with no problems. That's as big as I've pushed it.

well in all reality the 7.5's were made for the 235's... otherwise i would say BMW made a mistake on the 95's... granted they did have a 40 series sidewall though.. i can't imagine that a 255/40 would be that much different than a 245/45 as far as stiffness goes in the side wall.. i think that would be just fine..

Personally I almost went with the 255's in the back...cuz with the mods I was having a hard time putting the power down but after going tot the track I decided to stay with the stock sizes...the car is incredibly balanced...almost no understeer and just enuf power on oversteer to have fun!!
My $ .02...

Here's the "official" word from eurospeed.org. Yes to 235 up front, no to 255 in back.
But personally I agree with SG, Purp and T2, don't see how the 255's could make all that much difference in back. But don't know what you'd gain either, except looks.
Q. What are the maximum tire and wheel sizes I can fit on a stock M3 without rubbing?
A. Assuming stock offset of 41 mm, you should not exceed the following sizes: 245/40-17 x 8.5 or 245/35-18 x 8.5 rear (larger sizes in the rear will
require rolling the fenders to avoid rubbing) and 235/40-17 x 7.5 or 225/40-18 x 8.0 front (larger sizes in the front will require more negative
camber and possibly a spacer to avoid rubbing). Also, 235/40-18 x 8.5 with a 38 mm offset will fit in the front without any additional
modifications.

I run 255/40's in the back no problem. What I normally run is 235/40 in front, and 255/40 in back. I like it alot, and have had no problems with it what so ever. The feedback from the car is a good as stock, and I understeer less with the 235's in the front.
Hmm, sounds great! Any significant price difference? I may go that route this year when I buy some Toyos.
