Richard, I guess i didn't fill you in that much. The shop i work at we just finaly got our Boss's Z3 with a Euro 3.2L running the best it ever has. And it can spin the tires 285's all the way up into 3rd..... Now after learning so much about the dual vanos and such We can rip off that head is under 30mins and put it all back together in less then an hour.

So I would think doing all of those mods would get us well over 400 to 500hp, and I trust the euro motor more then my US one. I donno why I just feel the euro one was built better.

i would hope he has 400hp+.. theres a guy in town columbus, has an s52 motor in his 525i... they built the engine up.. stroked and bored ( if i can remember correctly) and its putting out over 400 crank.. pretty sick for that engine being NA.. great advancements in technology today..

no offense, but ask these people for actual numbers. I doubt a street euro 3.2 making 400 hp.

            Hang on a Second.

If you are building an NA motor for high hp....you do it much differently than a motor built for forced induction. If you are going to make an NA motor make 400hp (rwhp) there is no way that same motor runs well with a turbo on it. Lowering the compression with a headgasket is kinda like a bandaid for a bigger problem. You would be better putting in compression lowering pistons...which would defeat the purpose of building the motor high NA hp in the first place.

Thats cool that you are hanging around the shop..but engine building is kinda involved and takes experience, not just thinking throwing parts will work together. (I am not claiming to have lots of experience..but I have played a little with motors.)

I was trying to say that if you build the NA motor up, and wanting to move to the turbo set up, it would be easyer to just swap some parts seeing that you have new robs, pistons, and other parts that can take high compression. You would just need to swap out some parts and lower the compression to a good one for FI. I wasn't trying to say use lowered compression on a fully NA built motor, not thats just dumb.

but I do like talking about this even tho I maybe wrong, and please tell me if so. Still learning remember!

hey Drifter, where did your boss get his euro 3.2 or the parts to build it?

He got it before he wanted to open up the shop I am currently working at. the shipped the car over with the motor in it to the US.

no offense, but ask these people for actual numbers. I doubt a street euro 3.2 making 400 hp.

Well I know our boss's car isn't running that, hes all stock but an custom exhuast. But I was just stating that it could be done.

I work at Autohaus Bayern in Beaverton. And yes when i first got my M, i was really unexperience. And I am getting all my information well from the many boards and my Co workers that are open to teach me more when I ask.
