I am partial to the s4 wagons and would have probably bought one if I was ever in traffic or in the snow for extended times or regularly. Goo luck with your sale put it in the local Rocky mountain CCA.
If I hadn't bought this from my cousin for such a steal ($17K w/40K miles and 2 year warranty), I would have definitely opted for the wagon.
I know a couple people who may be interested in the car so I'm going to see if they want it first, then I'll list in the RMCCCA. I'm going to bring the Bimmer to the track school one last time on April 30th, then I'll get rid of it.

Is your e36 M3 for sale?
It will be May 1st.
Shoot Kupolo, couldn't you have gotten a green s4?
i know man. this was one of those deals that I had grab while I could. From what I have read, the green ones are very rare.
If your talking about the Track Day in Colorado Springs, I'll see you there.
That's the one. I'm signed up for Saturday.

The new car looks very nice in Silver. What are your initial feelings about it's driving characteristics? Dog oughta be happy.
Initial thoughts/feelings:
I hate turbo lag. I love when turbos kick in.
I drove 100 miles each way to Cripple Creek from Denver today. The drive consisted of city traffic, open highway, dry curvy mountain roads, a freak mountain blizzard complete with whiteout conditions on the way home, and more traffic, this time on the highway. I really can't think of a better first day test drive.
In the city, the car does not feel as rigid as the M3. You do not feel every pothole as much and you do in the Bimmer. I gotta say this is kind of nice. I definitely don't feel like I'm in a sports car quite as much as i did in the M3. You sit a little bit higher and at first I was kind of annoyed that I couldn't make the seat drop any lower. I got used to it pretty quickly.
On the open highway the S4 again is a little bit smoother. More of a performance sedan than a sports car. I tried to pass someone in 6th gear and had my first taste of turbo lag. i don't like it. I'll have to get used to it. The throttle response of the M3 is just not there. If you remember to downshift to 3rd or 4th before the pass; no problem. When the turbos punch, THEY PUNCH. It's fun.
On the dry curvy mountain roads the softer handing was apparent. I didn’t quite have the same confidence that I do in the M3. The car has Pilot Sport A/Ss which might be part of the problem. They are in pretty new shape so it will be sometime before I have a proper summer tire on them. More on this later. All in all, the car handled very well. The brakes were very good however I have heard that they are prone to fading under severe track conditions. I had a senior VP in my car so I couldn’t get on it too hard.
3:00pm I walk outside and it is a horizontal snow storm. WTF!??! It was 50 degrees when I went inside at 9:00. The snow is definitely sticking to the ground. Time to test the Quattro. Grip was fantastic. I am so glad I’m in this car. As stated before I have Pilot Sport A/S tires on and I can’t imagine how good this thing would be with proper snow tires. I am so glad I bought this car. I think that I would be spending the night in a Cripple Creek hotel if I was driving the M3.
In short, it’s not the sports car that the M3 is, but it is much more of a daily driver. It’s going to be hard to part with the M3, but I think I made the right choice.
