OK, break down your statement...liability (and limits), comp and collision deductibles, etc.

My car is Paid Off so I can decide even if I wanted the minimum required in CA which is lower than what I have opted for. 15/30/10.

    Limits of Liability

Bodily Injury - $25,000 Each Person / $50,000 Each Accident

Property Damage Liability - $25,000 Each Accident

    Comprehensive Deductible - $500

    Collision Deductible - $500

    Premium Per Car (BMW M3 CONV 2 DR) - $218 / 6 months

Here is my insurance agency address:

    Huntington Pacific Insurance Agency

    22940 Lyons AVE

    Newhall, CA 91321

      I pay $5200.

      I live in SF

      I'm 28

I have NO driving history (just got my US Drivers license last feb).

Surely you can work something out? I used progressive. They seemed pretty good. Remember that doing things like having a low jack and insuring your home with the same company will reduce the premium option (by a lot in some cases -25% for low jack, I think). I also took LARGE deductables, but I can cover that.

            Damn Democratic State .

Like I said- lots or variables and it is insane to compare what you are paying versus somebody else.

I would NEVER dream of carrying that low of limits on a car. Hell, you run into a Honda minivan (your at fault accident) and those limits won't even pay for the repairs on it....much less hitting anything with more value. I carry 100/300 and am thinking about raising them. Still seems low but you coverage is poor IMO.

Looks like I'm back on. I got a quote for $2800 from Mutal but the coverage is low and my deductible is $2K.

I'm not too worried about the high deductible because in my situation reporting something that will cost me $1500 to fix will be a bad idea given that my insurance will probably increase 100%.

Anyway, I'm moving in 5 months.

hello people!!!! do what i described above.. have the car in someone elses name, and let them insure it.. it should be no more then 250-300 for 6 months, with 100/300/100 on someone thats say 55+ w/clean record.. then you just drive the damn thing!!! I cant believe some of you are paying 5k+ thats insane, my .02 cents..

Coverage on the Auto insurance is not poor if you back it up with umbrella insurance (also linked to my home). And that is what kicks in when (and hopefully not) the insurance is not enough for that accident. I can also raise the limit to what you have 100/300 and still not pay close to double. So its really different strokes for different folks. If you want to pay more for insurance go ahead thats your choice. So I agree you cannot really compare, all I'm saying is everyone thinks that insurance in California is high but what are you comparing to?
