Update.



I got a response back from the seller I mentioned. He seems like a pretty stand-up guy and is willing to help us out. He gave me his costs for shipping/customs ect. He requested some info from me (ie. specifics on what types of units we're looking for), asked me to confirm that i'm actually an enthusiast looking for units for other enthusiasts (and not just for profit), and asked what kind of an offer I had in mind.



Without talking price prematurely, i'll say that the shipping costs to get the units here as a whole saves us some cash. The (shipping) price he gave me for that was less than half what it would be to buy units from him individually. This would work out well for anyone coming up to the April North East meet.



For those of you outside my local area, the price he gave me was for individually wrapped and boxed units. So it would not be difficult at all to ship them out your way. However, this adds cost, so I don't want to get ahead of things before I talk with him again regarding the actual price for the radio (keep in mind, his BIN price on ebay is $199).



So, as it stands now i'm waiting to hear back from him on a few points:

-If the shipping costs could be lowered more-still by him sending some or all of the units without them being individually boxed (a good number are going to people local to me anyways).

-Price for the actual unit.



I'll keep things updated. It looks promising. Apologies for being so vague about things, but we'll talk numbers when I confirm some more things with him and hear back again.

Update: I've talked with the seller a bit more and we've worked out some details.


-The good news: We've agreed on a price, and he has units that are what we're looking for. He's willing to ship a good number of them over here.


-The bad news: He doesn't have enough units right now to fulfill all the interest here, so there may be a few people that showed interest that I can't get a unit for. This isn't definite though...we'll see how many he can come up with.


For now this will be largely on a first come-first serve basis for now. Members that have showed interest will get a PM from me regarding the details, price, ect. You will have a finite time to commit to buy a unit, and we'll figure things out regarding payment. If a given individual backs out, the next person in line will be contacted.


Keep in mind that some local members I know personally committed to buy a unit before I even started this thread. I also received a number of PM's from people who did not post. So "first come first serve" will not follow the chronological order in this thread directly.
