I just don't think I would trust something I personally made out of wood to support a car. I really like my Kwiklift. Just drive on and jack the lift from the lateral support bar in the rear if you want it level. It gets the bottom of the tire 22" off the ground and with the lift bridge, I can even remove wheels (although I typically just do this from jackstands).

Here are some ramps that I made. The middle bridge section is removable to provide easy access under the car. Ideal for fluid changes, exhaust work, and inspections. Jack stands still a necessity for wheel work.

That's been one of my complaints on the HF jack stands - the U shape contact patch. Most stands look like that is their normal set up until you get to the more expensive designs like Esco. I always wondered how a few applications of plasti-dip would hold up on the U shaped stand. Maybe I should try it out.
The link in the first post has a few different designs, but shows the construction of the ramps pictured. They look to be framed with 2x6 lumber. Not sure how far apart the studs are and I'd probably double up at the front, rear and middle.
Get the rubber top pads from hf. Theyre about 1/4" thick and mash into the pucks on the car nicely.
if you don't have pucks they work just about as well due to the rubber.
i cut up small peices of wood for my jack stands and make that u into a flat surface a while back made a u thing and bolted it together with metal on both sides so it couldn't move. , ive since gotten beter jack stands but it was a god send for not marking up my frame rails when using them as a jack stand point. my old e28 got some rust in this are form being a jack stand jockey all its life and driving in snow.
Same advice

I've had an idea about creating a ramp from just 12" X 2" wood that would go under the wheels only. What you do is make 2 sets of "boxes" by stacking 12" X 2" X 36" pieces together.
The first set is 8" high. The second set is 16" high.
Using a jack, you jack your car up in the middle so both wheels on the same side are as high as you can get them. Then you put the two 8" ramps on one side under both wheels.
You do the same on the other side.
Then, you place some more wood under the jack and jack the car higher on one side and replace the 8" ramps with the 16" ramps. Repeat on the other side.
All you do is jack the car 4 times in total and raise it in stages.
It's not a drive up ramp but it is much cheaper.
