Apple CarKey-- any way we could retrofit it?

This is well outside my area of comfort, but I haven't seen anyone talking about it, so thought I'd see if we could get the ball rolling.

Anyone have any thoughts/suggestions on how we might be able to retrofit Apple CarKey functionality? It would be pretty great if we could get the car to a point where we didn't have to carry keys.

Access the remote keyless features of configured vehicles in the Wallet app.

tl;dr; To request the entitlement, you must be an automaker enrolled in the MFi Program. For details, see https://developer.apple.com/mfi/

Could potentially get a module from an enrolled auto maker (e.g. bmw).

Now you're talking witchcraft magic. Would be interesting to know exactly how the whole system works, there isn't a lot of information freely available.
