    Active Autowerke Headers

Anyone still running these? If so, how were your power gains? What difference did you notice in sound? Haven’t really seen many members on the forums with them still on their vehicles.

Would you like made in china headers with worse gains than the (cheaper, better fitting, better made) used OE euro headers? If so, AA is for you.

Which products? The headers are chinesium replicas of euro/csl. Megan racing headers.

To my knowledge the only innovation was SS with the V1 and V2. CPI did the single step, AR headers did the 6 into 1, and have both been shown to not be as effective as first thought. Some of the OGs here can attest to that.

The consensus is that OE Euro if you can spend 650ish on them, if not then go mega cheap with Megan Racing etc for 250ish and you may win the lottery with fitment etc.

SS V1s for ultimate power gains thats why the uproar for the group buy.

PS. for sound.... OEM Euro all the way, raspy, loud, and high pitched howl at high RPM, ask me how I know.

Epic also released their own equal-length large tube stepped header (now NLA) that was supposed to provide similar gains to V1's, but I remember results being somewhat inconclusive.

They're good headers comparable to Euro headers. I'd say whatever you can find cheaper out of the three, Euro, AA, or Megan headers. Ignore the "give me OE or give me death!" comments. My Megan headers are truly 304 stainless with proper bends and perfect fitment. The Megan headers are AA headers if you're wondering. They are literally the same exact thing. Megan and AA tend to have good customer service on simple things. This is the only Megan product I'd vouch for because it isn't really their product. AA did the R&D. There was a thread well over 70 pages on the Megan headers from M3forum. They get a thumbs up on quality control and fitment.
You'll have quite a bit of rasp from any of the headers. It's alot so a sec 1 rasp terminator would be helpful or cats if that's what you're into. The sound from inside the car is much better. Outside is still raspy. 2500 to 4000 rpm is where the rasp will be.

This has been one of my most used words for the past year.

Mine will be going on soon. I'm don't know welding or metallurgy but the Megan headers looked good coming out of the box. I went with them knowing full well that SS was the best option but not in my budget as I just did Vanos and rod bearings.

Now I'm ready to have some fun

I had AA headers on my car back from 2016 to 2018 when the car had the Prima kit from them as well. Fitment was great honestly and sound was nice with my RE El Diablo.

They gave me a whole lot of rasp at around 4k rpm’s. Going to feel it out a little more.

Yes, the shorty "euro" design will do that. The long tube style (Supersprint, but what every aftermarket except AA/megan copied), gives a calmer tone, deeper, smoother.

I installed these on my 2005 M3 but haven't had a chance to really evaluate them because of some other engine performance issues.

Will these make even more rasp? Supersprint Section 1 Resonator Delete Pipe (60mm)

Yes. They're the opposite of "rasp pipe" where you have 2 resonators (vs. 1 in stock piece). Cats in sect 1 will also tame the rasp (as well as volume). Not just rasp, but I find that straight piped sect 1s add drone too, but I kinda like it (with stock or mild muffler). Drone would be unbearable with a ss race or similarly poorly muffled sect 3 imo.
