Can you remove/install Diff front bushing 21mm bolt with 3/8 drive?

I dare you to break a HF pro ratchet. I have my share of snapon and original craftsman but there are absolute gems at HF and also a ton of junk I'll give you that.

Their tool boxes in particular are incredibly hard to beat. You can buy 4 or 5 to 1 snapon and tell me you need better quality. Garage Journal forums have some sweet HF toolbox/workbench builds over there.

Someone who buys snapon is not buying hf unless they're chopping it into a new tool or throwing it away. I don't give a shit what gj groupthink says half of those guys talk shit on stuff they can't afford.

Side rant, it's funny how people are so sensitive about defending their hf tools though (like on gj), where they brag about how little they paid for junk. I literally couldn't give any less shits and I hope they enjoy them but don't try to convince someone in the industry otherwise.

My box has plenty of Harbor Freight. If it breaks, I'll get Matco or Snapon. Though, I do prefer Hazet overall. Harbor Freight keep the price raping down. Their sockets can really take a beating. Gearwrench isn't awful but not the best tool. My subframe bushings got changed with Harbor Freight tools and they held up. There was at least 600-700lbs of pressure on them. I had no choice but to impact the bushing out because a 3 foot breaker bar wasn't enough to fully seat solid bushings. There is nothing wrong with buying cheap tools. Why pay $500 for a generic socket set when you can spend $50? Have one nice set for difficult bolts and just beat up the cheap crap.

These are awesome. I literally use them everyday and they're pretty darn good quality. Just buy normal size torx bit set. They're the only way 991 heatshields come out for spark plugs.

Agree with Arith. HF is what it is, sometimes all you need is a cheap throwaway tool for one use. Furthermore, plenty of their stuff is decent enough quality for any DIYer.

Jet, I could just as easily say anyone who buys Snap on is an idiot paying for a name. That statement is just as stupid. Both brands have their place. Sure, some of the junk at HF is just that, but you can also get a Lincoln jack or CDI torque wrench that's Snap on without the brand mark up.

My father was a Ferrari mechanic. He has every Snap on tool. We still buy HF in a pinch. It is what it is. Cheap and usually effective enough.

There are a couple of things where I stick with Snap On - ratchets for one. They have much finer gear tooth so you can still turn a fastener in tight spots. My Techangle wrench is fantastic.

But…for a 21mm socket that I’ll use maybe once a year or less (and I do a lot of wrenching for a DIYer)…HF is fine. But for one off sockets I go to Home Depot. I don’t need to buy a set which includes a 26mm socket and crap like that.

Right tool? Sounds nice but sometimes you’ve gotta make due. Is putting pipe wrenches on bolts a good idea? Probably not. Using a 21mm 3/8” drive socket to remove a front diff bolt horrible? I don’t think so.

The 21mm bolt on my diff needed a *lot* of force to remove. Not sure if someone just cranked on it too much during a previous service or what, but it didn't budge until I hit it for a really long time with an impact wrench. I wouldn't do that with a 3/8" socket.
