    Need people’s opinions on wide wheels and pulled fenders

    Recently I got some Kansei Roku wheels for my M3, specs being 18x9.5 +22 and 18x10.5 +12. Tires are 265/35/18 and 275/35/18 Michelin PSSs. The car is lowered on BC coilovers and dropped about 2.5 inches in front with about 3.5 degrees of camber and rear is lowered as much as possible without removing adjustable collars and about 2 degrees of camber. I noticed the rear tires were touching the fender but thought nothing of it and drove it for two days before the fender ended up chewing through the sidewall and caused a blowout. I was pissed at myself for not raising the rear a bit but I just liked the look of the car so much that I left it alone. Now I want to get my fenders pulled so I can have a bit more clearance and hopefully be able to run a 275 again but a guy that pulls fenders locally told me that it’s impossible to fit a 10.5 wide wheel on a 275 in the rear without a wide body so I want to hear some opinions of some of you guys and maybe help me out. Maybe I’ll just pull the fenders myself…

    Don't do crack, and don't shave/pull or roll fenders.

      Pulling your fenders will remove that fender crease line and make it look bubbly (possibly wavy). I had mine extended 8mm by a bodyshop to avoid that.

        I think rolling is pretty basic and if done correctly is fine. I know from the factory there is some kind of rubber liner that sits in between where the fender is rolled. That is kind of a pain in the ass to get out but that will need to go if you want to roll. My advice is to take it to someone with experience and roll the fenders gradually. Simply removing that rubber liner so you can push that bent piece closer to the outside of the fender is a bit of room in and of itself while maintaining the factory look. If that's not enough you can have them rolled a bit more before it you start to take it to the extreme of having a wavy and uneven look. 1) Take it to someone with experience 2) take your time with it and don't expect miracles. As others have said if done incorrectly or too much it can start to look bad quickly.

          The rear quarter panel is not 1 sheet of metal. it is two that are pinched at the lip. I dont believe there is any good way to roll them out without it looking wavy. A buddy of mine tried to roll his E92 quarter panel and it looked like garbage. At best, you can order a very nice roller (hundreds of dollars), and attempt it yourself. But if you are like most people, you will be unimpressed, the paint will crack, your car will look worse. All in the hope of tucking a tire with a stiff suspension, and a car that scrapes everywhere. Just raise it up and be happy you can drive your car the way its meant to be.

            Honestly I’m probably just gonna raise the rear a bit. I just don’t feel confident that my fender problem will be fixed completely.

              Many shave the inner lip on the rear fenders to fit wide wheels/tires.

                Rolling quarters will crack the paint and it will buckle. if you really have to modify the quarter panel best bet is to cut it.

                  don’t most people who run 275s run a 30 sidewall? Maybe a smaller tire would work?

                    Probably for 19s, I don’t think anyone makes a 275/30/18. I was told to run a smaller tire like a 255 but I’m not a fan of the stretched tire look

                      Your problem is the +12 offset on top of the 10.5in width. Your only solutions are to run more camber, run a stretched tire, or pull/cut the fenders. Or, get wheels that actually fit properly.

                      Also, running -3 front and -2 rear is pretty ridiculous, on top of your slammed height. Tire wear, handling characteristics, ride quality, etc. I mean, damn...how many sacrifices are you willing to make for these wheels??

                      For reference: I ran a 10.5in +22 wheel on 275s (TE37) in the rear with a touch over -1 camber. Never rubbed. That was pretty maxed out IMO regarding looks and functionality. Can't even imagine going with a +12, esp with your settings.

                        I’ve always had the car like that, rides comfortably for me even for a daily driver. I had squared 18x10.5 ARC-8s before with even lower rear ride height but the offset was between +22-24.

                          Dang, yeah +12et on a 10.5 rear is super aggressive.

                          I run a 10.5 +20et rear on 275s w/ pulled fenders, -2.0 camber (iirc), still have inner lips and dont have much rubbing, but my rear isn't lowered all the way on the Bilstein PSS10s. I removed the stock rubber spring bottom pad and replaced w a spring reinforcement plate (7mm pad vs 3mm thick plate) and still have about 2-3mm of thread on the sleeve (but remember measured spring height for the rear doesn't equate 1=1 for rear ride height due to the nature of the separate springs n shocks). I think last i measured I was right around 13" from center cap to fender middle, so I would try keeping the height there and no lower, any lower also affects the roll center and car start riding like crap (imo). Not sure what height you're running but going off your last pic and how the sidewall is tucking, I'm going to say you're lower than 13".

                          If you need to pull your fenders go for it, dont let everyone scare you about it. Only IF you have a competent well experienced shop do them, your paint shouldn't crack. I went to a local guy down here who rolls and pulls fenders for everyone, including stance bois and has done tons of E36s and E46s. Yes the fender crease wont be perpendicular to the ground no more, mine flares out a bit, but again I have no crack, waves, and its subtle. If anything if makes the car look slightly wider and aggressive with the rounded pulled fender edge.Only other 'issue' is where the fender meets the rear bumper with the screws /bolts he couldn't pull as much naturally and the curve is rather sudden. Ill post a pic of my fenders if requested.
