To get the cat monitors "ready" will it work doing the drive cycle with the rear wheels lifted instead of driving on the freeway finding time with no traffic or does there have to be a load?

Just updating with my experience since there wasn't a detailed confirmation here in the thread:
Stock airbox, no tune on my car, but I have had intermittent secondary air codes that I haven't bothered chasing down, a dead rear O2 sensor and occasional cat efficiency codes (probably related).
Using Martyn's tool I coded:- Disable SAP DTCs
- Disable cat efficiency DTCs
- Disable rear O2 DTCs
- SAP / cat heating sequence left ON (with hardware installed)

Anyone in the greater LA area have a friendly neighborhood smog shop who is sympathetic to the plight of modified cars in the golden state, please DM me

Had my car smogged today and passed with an Active Autoworks tune. No monitors or sensors are shut off. But for those worried CA won’t allow any type of tune this doesn’t seem to be the case. At least as of now.

Ditto, another data point here too; passed without any issues, only thing I had modified on the tune is immobilizer, aux fan speed (i have a spal fan). Nothing to drastic to keep the smog guys happy when they datalog the DME. One note my smog guy said they'll have to implement the web cam soon to watch over the smog process but the camera can be on a stationary location. So take that info how you want, might be fine for some but those who have obvious mods might consider hiding it better.

Data point: '03.5 SMG. Easy pass with CSL DME torque parameters flashed. The one Star certified shop in town.

all my monitors are ready and no O2 sensor is disabled. I think my tune only enables sport mode and the flashing rev limiter lights as far as I know. will it get tagged as a tuned ECU and fail smog?

Any flashing or error code delete or adaptation reset or undoing the battery will reset smog monitors, and require new drive cycles except for the flash of a tune specifcially made to force monitors into ready state.

If your cat monitors are ready or have at least 8 monitors ready, it should pass. Not sure if a tune resets any of the monitors. If its only the cats in not ready state, do drive cycle and it should pass.
