    Avant 4 on the fritz

My avant 4 unit's been acting up like crazy lately. Wondering if anyone has experienced similar issues and/or has troubleshooting tips?

As I drive, it constantly switches between different apps at will -- between radio, backup camera, video player, music player. It often *seems* correlated with going in/out of gear/neutral/reverse (6MT car), but that's not always the case. It seems to happen alot more when I'm street driving than when cruising on the highway. It seems like I can always guarantee it to happen when going into reverse though. There shouldn't be any electronic signal for going in/out of gears other than reverse right? Except for the clutch switch I guess? But how is that wired to anything that talks to the Avant? Also, steering wheel controls only work about 50% of the time -- if they're not working at startup, they won't until maybe the next time I turn the car on. If they work on startup, though, they'll work until I turn the car off.

Kinda confusing since this started happening totally out of the blue after 18+ months of trouble free operation.

    Thanks for any suggestions

My first thought was electrical interference although why that might change from a working system, I'm not sure. Maybe a bad ground? That'd probably also explain the steering wheel controls (they come from the I bus I presume on these)

Also not something on the screen? Capacitive screens an be affected by things on the screen but they'd usually be noticeable like a drop of water or something.

Would be helpful to have another head unit that is known to work. Also to try your malfunctioning unit in another car. That is if you can find a donor
