    Metal valve stem seals

    Hi guys,
This has nothing to do with an E46 specifically but I don't know where else to ask. I am getting new tires put on my BBS wheels with metal valve stems and I'm wondering about the valve stem seals. These wheels are about 10 years old. Do the rubber seals inside require replacement from time to time? I can't find them online anywhere, and the tire shop (big popular place) didn't really know what I was talking about.

After searching a bit, it appears the stems I have are genuine BBS stems so I'd like to keep them rather than putting some random chinese stuff from Amazon in there. And the stems themselves are fine

    Thanks for any tips.

If the valve core is not obvious leaking then just leave it alone. A good leak-free cap should seal the valve good.

Rubber deteriorates. I'd replace them, for peace of mind if nothing else.

Maybe BBS sells just the rubber parts or can point you in the right direction. Or maybe they are something you can find at a good hardware store.

I contacted BBS and they don't sell just the rubber. I went ahead and ordered the stems for peace of mind. I think I will measure the size and buy a bag of them on McMaster for next time
