PSA: Bimmerworld Wheel Spacer Safety Test

Been using spacers for a while and never saw this issue discussed. Bimmerworld just released a video demonstrating inconsistent tolerances between spacer and wheel that can lead to stud failure.

The video is worth a watch if you run spacers:

Spacers always add extra failure points. Best thing to do is get proper wheel size. If spacers are still needed then perform inspections regularly, always check lug nut torque too.

Saw someone lose 3 lug nuts on track. Had really thick spacers.

Spacers can work fine but are an extra hassle. Wouldn’t use on a track car unless I absolutely had no other choice.

had that exact issue in the video with ECS spacers about 6 years ago. thank goodness I noticed it because of the wheel shaking which at first I thought was a bent wheel.
