    Newbie Rotor Question

    Hey all,

I have the StopTech ST40 355x32 rotors (and calipers) on my car (front and back).

The rotors have warped. What are my options for replacing them / do I need to use 2 piece floating rotors?

    Looking for affordable options.

    Thanks.

How did you conclude that the rotors are warped? Felt pad judder is usually variance in pad material deposited on the rotor surface.

Suggest you check the hub is clean and the rotor properly mounted. Satisfying that - then fully bed the brakes.

^ This is accurate. I would suspect pad smearing is what happened. 100 grit sand paper will do wonders for clearing some of that off.

        Yep, almost certainly pad deposits.

Easiest way to clean them off is put some track pads on for a couple of days, run at street temps (cold).

Then go back to street pads, as they'll eat your rotors very quickly if run cold for an extended period.

Stoptech "sport" pads? Those things are the most deposit prone pads I've ever run. I got deposits on my hard driven M5, and my mom got deposits, on her 65 year old driven e46 awd automatic wagon.

Rotor warping pretty much never happens.

Bumping this up instead of starting a new thread. I need to replace my 355 Dt40 kit rotors and pads as well because they are almost at minimum>

Any suggestions on nonstop tech replacement options and if No, best place to buy stoptech rotors and they should ship outside the states. Thanks.

Not sure if girodisc does 355mm replacement rotor rings for an ST40 kit…..or do they?

I still need to rebuild my ST40s but i bought most of the rebuild parts from Zeckhausen (https://www.zeckhausen.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=24)

I would like to shop from somewhere else if possible. Looks like I’ll just have to contact stoptech/centric themselves.

Are you looking for slotted or drilled?

                          Girodisc makes 355x32 https://www.girodisc.com/355x32mm-Ro...Ks_p_6580.html

Quick note on caliper rebuild kits (really only matters if the car is tracked). While Centric is the parent company and owns Stoptech, Stoptech sells unique higher temp pressure seal kits. Make sure the parts you get come in Stoptech rather than Centric packages. Another way to tell is the dust boots from Stoptech are gray in color and are made of high temp resistant silicone, vs Centric's black/rubber. Again, for street car Centric rubber kits are good enough.
