Can CF trunk lids be painted?

For the CSL conversion project, looking at trunk lids that are cheaper than the OEM one ($3K), e.g., https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-3...upe-trunk-lid/

Can these types of CF lids be painted according to the original color of the car?

SuperSprint 63.5mm stepped headers, section-1 with sport cats, and resonated twin-pipe section-2
ITG CSL Airbox Airfilter| Karbonius E46 microfilter cover
    Karbonius M3 E46 CSL trunklid | Ohlin's BMS MI30 coilovers

Why not? People get CF trunk lids painted all the time. CF parts are just fancy, lightweight, reinforced plastic. I'd avoid that trunk lid though.

Won't look good in most cases.

after some experience with my Vorsteiner carbon trunk....yes it can be painted, but needs to be prepped properly. Epoxy primer built up, is a must. My trunk wasn't, and under summer sun, the carbon/epoxy sort of breaks down...and the weave pattern bleeds through. I've read through numerous car sites, and this seems to be a trend if the shop you bring it to has no experience with carbon.

          Agreed, it can be painted.

Also agreed that’s not a good trunk for a CSL conversion. It’s not a good version of a real CSL trunk. The lines are wrong, you don’t want an angled license plate plank, you want a deep recessed LP area. Nor do you want the stock trunk handle style. CSL has clean no trunk handle and uses different lamps. Also important design detail is the “crease line” goes directly across trunk back from top of tail light to tail light.

Good points. What would be your recommendation and why?
