No horn, steering wheel controls, driver airbag codes

I've got three different symptoms of something being quite not right under the steering wheel roundel:

    1. Horn doesn't work
    2. No buttons on the steering wheel work (volume control, cruise control etc)
    3. I have an airbag light and two codes, stage 1 and 2 driver's side airbag

I popped the airbag out of the steering wheel and looked around. All of the electrical connections look good. But I can't get the horn to work, and if I try to clear the airbag codes they come right back despite the airbag being connected (and new at that, thanks to recall).

Can't find any pinched wires, and all of the connections seem solid. Any suggestions?

Welp, looks like I'm buying a new clockspring.. unless there's an easy way of fixing the broken one?

check fuse F5 and F55 and they should have 12v with ignition key turned on.

Yeah good suggestion, but they were fine. In the end, new clockspring fixed it! Glad to have my horn back in LA traffic...

Ah, now we know who was so noisy on the FW101 SB this morning. Seriously I will be nervous driving without working horns.

It sounds like you're dealing with some frustrating car issues. When your steering wheel controls, horn, and airbag lights start acting up, it can throw a wrench in your plans. For the train horn, have you checked the fuse? It's usually a quick fix if that's the culprit. Steering wheel controls can be a bit trickier. Sometimes it's just a loose wire, but other times it might mean replacing the whole unit. As for the airbag light, that's something you want to get checked out ASAP for safety reasons. I'd recommend getting a professional opinion on this one. They'll be able to diagnose the issue properly and get you back on the road safely.

I dissembled my clockspring to fix a broken solder joint on the ribbon cable. Its not exactly easy to wind it back together but I was able to do it successfully.
