Hey all I am looking to do my vanos rebuild over the winter. I think I recall a comprehensive kit available from someone but really cant remember exactly. Am I remembering incorrectly? Or is there someone who sells a kit as opposed to individual parts?

The kit is from Beisan, but I suggest don't swap out your original pump disk for a new one or modified one with smaller holes -- nobody wants to swap his 40K miles well maintained disk with a high mileage and dirty oil worn down disk. . Have your disk drilled the new holes by machinist.Last edited by sapote; 11-13-2021, 01:23 PM.

I would do ISTA / DIS test as well as pressure checks, and if ok, let it alone. Unless you are very worried about the hub screw issues, but if it is not rattling then chances are it is ok. the VANOS thing is really overblown, there are many cars with 100's of thousands of miles around, heck, even bearings seem to be fine for up to 100-125k if the cars have been looked after. Most horror stories are from neglected or abused cars

I bought a new solenoid pack rather than gamble with a repaired unit. I will be doing oem sealing plate, orings, springs and guide plus maybe turbo toys hub instead of fiddling with the disc and that's if my tab is broken.
When people say bulletproofing the vanos it really is only about the hub. The solenoid is effectively a wear item as is everything else besides the hub really so I don't mind changing orings and a guide every 30k since the car isn't a daily so no strong preference for viton.2003.5 MT JB/B - CSL SCHRICK SUPERSPRINT EISENMANN JRZ SWIFT MILLWAY APR ENDLESS BBS/SSR DREXLER KMP SACHS RECARO AR SLON MKRS GSP DMG KARBONIUS CP AUTOSOLUTIONS KOYO
