Will a New Factory Remote Key Work with any E46 M3?

I just sold my 2003 vert and am selling an extra factory remote key. Question is will that key sync with any E46 M3 as long as the documented steps are followed? It worked fine with my car, so I assume it will work with any other E46.

Yes for remote lock/unlock
No for EWS ie the immobiliser
No for the physical key barrel
