How to plug Oval mirror into E46 m3 with BMW assist/SOS mirror?

My m3 had an SOS mirror from the factory. It started having the dreaded mirror fluid failure so I decided to switch to the regular oval mirror as I happened to have one laying around that I needed to replace the glass on anyways.

With some research, people have said to de-pin pins 4,5,6&7 from the mirror harness. I did that and when I put it into the car to test it out it does not auto dim with a flashlight.
Does anyone have any pointers? I saw 1 thread saying I need to swap a pin somewhere else but no other thread has said that and I don't want to risk zapping the mirror.
Some input from someone who has done this would be appreciated!

I just plugged it in and it works fine did not change anything.

The only problem I have is that if I turn the car off for a short time, like getting gas or picking something up, the radio will not work. The radio will start working again a few minutes later. I know for a fact this is related to the mirror.

Are you positive your car had an SOS/BMW Assist mirror before you put an oval mirror in? If you just plugged it in you likely zapped your mirror.

You definitely need to de-pin or cut a wire, or you will fry something.

        Details could be found here.

P/S I would suggest doing an e90 mirror for the low profile clown nose, garage buttons and compass. (it isn't oval tho)

Probably best not to follow my advice.

          ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If I recall correctly I had to switch a wiring pin and unplug one or two. There were cases reported of literally mirrors smoking, if not done.

I did the exact same thing, having the compass and homelink is a plus. And you do have to cut one wire if I remember correctly. That thread on e46fanatics guided me in the right way.

Crap, I think I fried my oval mirror. I wish I read this thread before I installed it. I plugged it in and there was a terrible burning smell coming from the mirror when I started the car.
