I posted this on my other car forums but applies here as well re: storing your car and gasoline...I will add that the M3, tho driven every couple months, was sitting with a 3/4 tank of 2 year old (California E10!) gas in it when I finally got it back and it both started up and ran fine all the way home 170 miles, then I added more new gas. No issues. Of course this had the additivie from the begining.
Hi All,
I have posted here before about storing my Alfa. I am not affiliated with the product, just a satisfied user who highly recommends this for your 105/115. I have been using this product for years on my GT Junior, 59 Land Rover, and 06 M3 as they are lightly driven and none like the Ethanol in our CA gas (10%). Due to COVID and me living overseas at the time, I got an unplanned test of long term storage with Startron in my tanks! Hope this helps some of you guys decide what to use for storage and even everyday if your state has 10% Ethanol gas.
1. Alfa GT Junior. I stored it with 1/2 tank of 91 premuim gas (not ideal, usually store with full tank) but thankfully with Startron mixed in as I normally add it every fill up anyway. At the time I planned to be back in a few months so wasn't too concerned, then COVID hit, and that was 2 years sitting in the garage!! I smelled the gas at the cap and it seemed normal. Used my siphon pump to pull gas back up the line to the Dellortos. Cranked a bunch, heard some nasty banging, then it started up and ran smooth! Went through about 1/4 tank before refilling with more added Startron. Ran great for many miles of testing, no issue with fuel spoiling.
2. Landy and M3: Both stored with full tanks and Startron. My dad was keeping watch on them both, so they did get driven but less than once a month, sometimes 2+ months in between short warm up and drives. Both work flawlessly for 2 years like this on the same tank of gas.
3. Wife's MB GLK350 was stored with full tank and Startron, though I don't normally use it on the GLK since it was designed for Ethanol. But for storage I did use it as a stabilzer. Worked 100% normal, only briefly driven one time in 18 months or so storage.
