Throttle body area rust

I see some rust on the arm that moves the throttle body. You think its ok to lightly sand that off? It looks like just surface rust.

I’m in Illinois so yeah however this car lived most of its life on the east coast. Crazy thing is the underneath of the car isn’t rusty.

By the way I think that part is chromed so you can sand off the rust but it will keep rusting. I would spray some ACF-50 all over that engine

It looks more like polished stainless. Not sure. So would you spray it all over the engine or just in that area after i clean it? Will that spray damage other things in the engine bay?

It looks like you've got some pretty bad oxidation on the aluminum parts too. I would spray it on the metal parts. Guys will spray it on their entire motorcycles to keep them from corroding.

Yeah i looked that up already. Less than $200 however not sure how hard it would be to replace it without messing up the throttle bodies.

Yeah I just sanded it very lightly and its 99% gone. I will clean the engine bay and then use the ACF-50 I just bought. Thanks again for the great tip.

Too much chemical in engine detailing I think. A little oil leak in the engine won't cause this problem.

The tool that worked the best was a little wire wheel that I had in my Dremel kit. I will post pictures when I get the car back from the dealer.
