Wow and that ZCP isn’t even Interlagos Blue or completely stock. Can only imagine if it was what it would command.

Don't know about that-- of the two highest BaT cars, both were modified and only one (this one) was a ZCP. If anything, some tasteful mods seems to be the key ingredient for the crazy high values.

This one seemed to check a lot of the "rare" / desired boxes for an M3.

          -ZCP
          -Manual
          -Low miles
          -M-Texture manual seats
          -Slicktop

In the end there were two people that really wanted this car and with an auction, that is all you need. If it wasn't for those two, it probably would have sold around $70-$75K - Still a ton of money

I think the car has a rare combo original factory option: cloth seats, no sunroof, manual seats, 6mt ZCP, and 33K miles low. This is a rare combination and hard to come by. All other modified parts are easy to find.

Maybe. Certainly the slicktop and 6mt.

But, of the 3 e46 M3s that have sold in the 90k range, this is the only ZCP. That does make sense to me, as I view most of the ZCP as a downgrade (exception being the ABS unit).

The factory alcatara (not base cloth) is probably what pushed this higher, as dumb as that seems to me (as is so easy to swap interiors in a way that is completely identical to coming that way stock.

Yeah think it has like 3 “cost” Options: Metallic paint, ZCP, Xenons. That’s pretty bare bones window sticker. Quirky how many of these non-options are the most desired configuration.
Maybe the A08 Silver Grey was sought after because it’s a CSL color. I think the buyer mentions CSL desires in auction comments.

                    Certainly seems that way... https://carsandbids.com/auctions/9lR...m_medium=email

100k more miles takes away $70k... there's some math to be done there somewhere.

Besides miles it also has sunroof, SMG, lots of dings and a prior accident.
That would have been a nice car to buy and manual change and flip. I’d keep the heated Imola interior as a selling point.

15 months ago he could have bought something similar for ~$37,000 less.

Good luck finding a complete m-tex set in that good condition though. You just don't see them for sale anymore. There was a time where everyone sold their m-texture sets in favour of black leather because everyone thought it was ugly but it seems that time is past. The most common place I've seen them is on the japanese auction sites. Japan seem to have gotten a large proportion of the ordered m-tex cars but even then, rarely in good condition and rarely a full set.

You can just have an mtex interior made. Its not magic, its upholstery.

Yeah, another member said he paid $1,200 for just the material.
As someone else mentioned, it’s not readily available because it had very little interest to new M3 buyers.
