Engine Rebuild - Piston question

Hi All,

Have my engine apart for a head gasket and rod bearing job. Had a head gasket split between cylinders 4,5, &6 which resulted in some detonation for some time. Was wondering if there is any reason for concern here or is it business as usual? Noticed cylinder 5 has some traces of oil on the perimeter of the piston. Pictures are attached via the google link:

I didn't really look at the pics in detail, but as long as there are no visible 'chunks' missing from the piston tops, and assuming that the ring lands are still intact...you should be able to get away w/just replacing the head gasket and letting it eat. Also, see if you can get a straight edge across the block deck/head surface to check for warpage. You might also want to do a quick compression/leakdown test after reassembly just for peace of mind.

Is it just me or do the cyclinder walls look really smooth? This would be bad. I can just see a reflection of the pistons pretty well. Also it looks like there's hotspots on your pistons. I've only learned of it in school but not actually had to deal with it but that's what we might be seeing. Since the head is out and you're doing bearings, could at least pop out the pistons and clean them. Check for tiny little craters. You did blow a head gasket so there could be alot of damage you can't see. Heck, detonation could've slightly bent a rod. You're there so why not measure it, make sure your rings are still good and possibly get those walls honed along with what stash said.
