S54 weird engine noise

Hey guys, needing some help with an odd noise coming from underneath the valve cover. Started making this noise yesterday and CEL shows P0010. I don’t know if the code is related to the noise or if it’s a different problem. It doesn’t have any loss of power, drives normal.

Looks to me like a VANOS Solenoid

edit - have you done any vanos work or has it had any recently?

Thanks for the info. That’s what I was thinking as well since I don’t any any records of work done to the vanos.

The noise is odd, and so I would remove the VC and inspect the pump disk and its 2 driving tabs. Look at the cam sleeves bolts (6 for each cam) from the cam side to make sure none of the bolt end is shorter than the other which indicates the bolt backed out from the cam threaded hole.
I don't see how a bad solenoid caused this noise.
