    Are you guys hoarding parts?

With the values of our cars going up, and more and more parts becoming NLA. Are you guys hoarding multiples of one part? (ie carpets? lol)

I'm hoarding 2 sets of headers and sect 1 cause no one will buy them. Market is stagnant af.

                PM’ing you now about those.

As to the original question OP, not yet for this car. For others, yeah unfortunately. It’s not something I enjoy but it’s a necessary evil at a certain point.

I've been kinda hoarding parts but mainly because I don't have the time to install them yet. Euro bumper, vince bar, CMP bushings, new diff cover, 996 calipers, arm rest delete console, old Rieger rear spoiler, and other miscellaneous parts. I am thinking of buying interior parts that I'll probably need down the road and holding on to them though.

Lets just say I'm buying things before they break as I can afford to do so.
Am I hoarding? Yeah, maybe a bit, but I'm just making sure my preventative maintenance items are in hand before potentially going NLA. What a rabbit hole that opens up, I feel as though I need another engine etc., but hey maybe I am messed up in the head.

My feelings on these high prices are...fuck that shit, was nice to see for a while, now I think of what it means for people that dont have the big bucks, even high mileage shit boxes going for $20k+

Many people now can't afford price of entry, I sure couldn't buy one in this marketplace unfortunately.

I think most parts are still readily available through FCP or ECS. There's a few items that are just nearly impossible to get like floor mats, but nothing critical that I've seen. I don't really hoard duplicates of parts, but whenever I replace parts I try to follow the rule of replacing anything that connects, cushions or fastens to it as well (new bushings, mounts, clips, bolts, nuts, brackets, hoses etc). I do this 1: to save time having to go back in that area in the near future (I value time/efficiency over cost) and 2: because I'm worried parts will eventually go NLA. Because of this, my "parts to install" shelf does get a bit unruly.

are they though? besides bmw individual trim and some CSL parts everything seems pretty accessible still

Besides NLA or delays in production, we have to deal with a drop in QA. Have you seen the newer pillar covers, dead pedals, floor mats? Looks like blind children made them or chose the materials. Nothing matches!

This. Bought floor mats and received something completely different than what you would 1-2 years ago. Way thinner / less plush, M3 logo changed and is a patch that looks to be stitched on by an orangutan rather than neatly embroidered into the mat. Same applies to the trunk mat.
