So I was in the process of removing the Vanos to install a new pump disk, rattle kit, sprocket bolts, seals, etc.. Obviously, this will require me to remove the sprocket hubs, splined shafts, etc so timing has to be correct.
Before I removed anything I noticed that the tabs on the exhaust hub are not parallel to the ground when the engine is at TDC. Additionally, the holes in neither exhaust nor intake sprocket hubs are pointing up. Has anyone seen this before? is this a problem?
Every S54 I see online (including the Beisan insructions) show the exhaust sprocket tabs parallel to the ground and the holes in the sprocket hubs pointing up.
In the pic shown I have the crank pin in, the camshaft lobes are in the correct positions, and I have used the bridge to check the holes in the cams. With the timing set the sprocket hubs are not in the positions I expected to see.
