Aux fan running after A/C removal

I pulled my A/C this weekend for various reasons and don't plan on putting it back in. I took the condenser, all lines, dryer, and compressor out. Now the aux fan runs at full speed all the time. Any one know why this is the case and if there is a way to get the aux fan to run only when engine temp is an issue? I have also removed the stock puller fan so I would like to retain at least one fan.

Check and make sure your water temp sensor is plugged in on the lower radiator hose. If that is unplugged the Aux fan defaults to full speed all the time.

Aux fan running full-time sounds pretty good for a track car Maybe you can wire in switch for continuity so that it can be turned off when not sitting?

With A/C deleted you could likely get away with no aux fan.

It’s been a few years but I believe I had the same issue and to fix it I just plugged in the AC pressure sensor. I just zip tied it out of the way.

was thinking the same but one of the 4 bolts holding the fan on has broken free from its spot weld and the nut wont come off. path of least resistance at the moment is to leave it in place.

read similar on another forum after a bit of searching. I will try this this weekend when I am with the car and report back.

I run no fan. Runs cooler on track but you have to do cool downs.

This makes sense as the unplug wire might have the floating (unconnected) voltage level default to be like a high pressure Freon flows in the pipe.

It depends on the car moving speed. If car can move above 60mph all the time then there is enough moving air to cool the radiator. If stuck in traffic then engine overheated without aux fan.
