buddy of mine has one for sale....that's $$ though.
Worth every penny. It's the best section 3. Sounds insane and only weighs 12 lbs. One day they'll be $5-10k.

I'm running fabspeed headers, CPI Section 1 Rasp Eliminator with Crossover (RTX) and UUC Corsa Sport Exhaust (Section 2 and 3). UUC/Corsa claim the section 2 eliminates the rasp but it was still too much for my taste. Adding the CPI section 1 has eliminated it and I have zero drone.

Section 2: determines bottom end/middle range power and rasp
        muffler determines drone.
Seems plausible as I just have the RE muffler and have some drone.

Don’t get anything titanium if you don’t want loud/drone.

Ask me how I know lol

I found switching from Euro headers/cats to Ssv1/cats did make it louder but less raspy for sure.

The rest of my setup was/is stock Sec. 2 and SCZA muffler. The SCZA seems to be a nice setup with no drone issues, only issue is you have to deal with SG to buy one new.

I almost miss the rasp a bit from the Euro setup to be honest. To each their own. Still on the fence about a SS dual Sec. 2, the sound right now is fine for me and if I'm missing 5hp somewhere in the band no biggie.

Ya I miss my euros too (now ssv1s). They had a great sound.

thanks everyone. it would seem i have 2 paths. the easy one is simply located a catted section 1, put it back on, and go back to the sound i previously had which i was okay with. no drone, good rasp, done.OR...source a SS Street or something similar to bring down that drone. the Rogue certainly removes the rasp almost entirely.

Stupid question: by SS you mean Supersprint, right? I've got the Euro headers, Rogue Gen2 sec 2, and stock exhaust. I have to take action. The drone is pretty hard to take, especially right at 80 mph.

You didn't list sect 1. If it's stock, you should get a catted or at least dual resonated sect 1 to calm things down. Surprised to see you say the drone is that bad with the stock muffler though. Drone is generally something that is an issue when you go with a lightweight muffler, not stock. As opposed to "rasp" which you can have plenty of stock muffler or lightweight muffler - depends more on headers/sect1&2.

These Y pipe sect 2s (Rogue, SS, SGT) only lose power and change the sound (remove rasp, more "tuner" sound, but seem to magnify drone). There's not much reason to run any sect 2 besides stock or the enlarged stock style one aka "dual pipe" (resonated) from SS. The H pipe is better.

Yup the Rogue piece eliminated 2/3 of the rasp from the Euro headers, but the drone in the 3K RPM range is hard to take. I'm going to pick up a Supersprint Street muffler and hope it cuts this down.

That piece doesn't come up on the ECS site if you search under E46 M3 - only Sport and Race do - but they sent me a link and they actually do stock it. Will report back later.

i sold my Rogue rasp as paired up with the SS Race was unbearable. i did the custom catted section 1 instead and then saw a great deal on a SS Sport. put that on and surprisingly like it (SS Race for sale soon). i still have the SS Sec 2. i may swap it for OEM just to see how it sounds but it's end of the track season so not really in a rush..

Am I reading this correctly that (1) if I’m not doing headers for engine sound / power; I may as well (2) stay stock or else it’ll drone (with / without rasp)?

Everything else is sound tone and weight tuning (rasp, no rasp, deeper or not, weight) at the expense of power and drone?

I don't recall hearing much drone when I was running my Rogue section 1 and everything else stock. However, when I added the Rogue Diablo exhaust then the drone was immediately noticeable. Undeniable drone, but since I'm in a convertible and 75% of my driving time is with the top off and RPMs high its fine. I would not want to highway drive this setup on the regular in a coupe.

Thanks Ocean… this has been most of my thinking… top down doesn’t drone (not even supercharged)… and in a heavy Vert only a supercharger really matters for power, so why bother with exhaust? “Sound tuning and weight” has been the answer, but so far “stock” has been more compelling than that for me. So I was double clicking to make sure I wasn’t missing anything.

Of course one day I might supercharge the car, go for that extra power and put headers on, and on that day exhaust tuning might make some sense for me (way more exhaust flow than stock so something must be done). But until that day it seems like not, except “maybe” the rogue rasp eliminator (and I don’t really mind rasp at these levels).
