    BW Midpipe Resonator Failure

During going over the car after this past track weekend. I noticed a fairly severe exhaust rattle in the paddock but everything seemed tight so I kept on running.

Did a closer inspection today and saw the magnaflow resonator exploded. Any ideas what would cause this failure? Do I need to drop the heatshield and inspect driveshaft?

Bruh wtf. Are there any obstructions inside the pipe?

Not that I can see. Maybe the “section 3” is has a blockage?

Not sure how to test the flow of the muffler.

Maybe rich mixture and fuel pooling in the resonator?

According to e46 track cars FB group this is a common failure with the magnaflow resonator. I swapped the straight pipe back in and patched up the heat shield today. Used rivets with a backing washer and some spare aluminum heatshield.

Inspectes driveshaft just for peace of mind and all was good.
