I have a 2002 M3 convertible. The trim flaps, right and left side, that open and close with the top have broken. They look like there was poor design, and as it turns out BMW must have recognized their fault as well. Since I also have a writing issue with the top I had broken the housing for the Flaps on both sides. So I was trying to replace the whole component. As it turns out I bought 2003 or 4 replacements from eBay. The design has been changed and appears to be much better. The problem is that the connection point for the flap is to far away and the hole is too small. On the good side, somehow in doing research to try to find a solution I discovered that you can purchase new replacements of the plastic housing, with the flap for about $100. On eBay they are charging $80 for just the flap. Anyway, since I have these newer designed trim pieces I would like to install them. But I either need an additional part or a work around. Anyone have any experience with the new, post 2003, flaps and connections? 1
