Sort of a fun little project I decided to do. I recently replaced my belt tensioner because the bolt was stripped. Pretty sure this part was original to the car, but still seemed to function just fine - other than you couldn’t remove tension.
I ended up cutting the belt (it was old anyway) and buying a new INA unit. The old unit was sitting on the bench. So I dropped it in the ultrasonic bath. Removed the stripped bolt. And replaced it with a trimmed M10 bolt that is usally used to secure the underbody brace (of which I had a bunch since they are “one time use”). 16mm socket fits in their just fine.
Result is a “refurbished” unit.
If anyone wants it they can have it for free. Seems wrong to send it to the junk yard.
