Does this include the vanos pump disk with new 2 smaller holes drilled? The stock holes are a litltle too large and cause too much plays with the driven tabs, leading to cracked tabs and marred holes.

Yes however I’m not counting the two $300 core charges.
great thread. I have to get my vanos done this year and was wondering if anyone has a good shop in Orlando FL they recommend?

Definitely Euro Motors. I worked there while going to UTI and I learned so much from the two master techs. They are both BMW master techs and once I headed off to start my career, they hired another guy that seemed quite competent. They won't screw you over. Tell them Andy sent you. The dealers in Orlando are trash. You get Jiffy Lube quality for emptying your wallet. If you want to make the trip to Ocala, my dealer is definitely an honest one. They exist contrary to what people think.

I wish they just drill your original disk instead of sell you new disk, which might have tolerance issue with the pump 4 pistons sticking. Why 2 core charging?

One for the Oil Disk Pump and the second for Vanos Solenoid Coil Pack.
Got another quote from another local place and they said 4-10k to do this same job however they will only use a new Vanos from BMW. He said most likely it would end up around $6k average. Car is only worth maybe high $20k. Not paying $6-10k.
You don't need a new vanos adjustment unit. I replaced my solenoid when it went bad which a long time ago was 400ish, now it's 9. The tabs/disc need to be inspected and all seals/sealing plate/pressure valve.
The last thing you want to do is have a shop do multiple items at once unless you absolutely trust them. They will find ways to pad the cost when it's a laundry list so ask for each cost individually as it's not like you get a discount for bulk work, in fact, quite the opposite.
When I approached the only Euro shop around here in regards to this they only offered to replace the Vanos adj. unit/solenoid pack with OEM replacements, they had never done a vanos rebuild and didn't want to start doing them.
That started me down the path of just doing the work om my own however I realize this is not practical for everyone.
$1800 seems reasonable to me for parts + labor, like Sapote said either have your original pump disc machined OR buy the VAC hub, anything else you risk issues you don't want to deal with.

Yeah it looks like I’m going to go with the $1800 price quote.
Re: the shop that only does full replacements... Keep in mind Vanos units CAN wear out, Hydraulic units CAN become unreliable and solenoid packs CAN fail, there are plenty of arguments to replacing the whole assembly with new from BMW and it's not just CRAZY TALK. With that said, that's not the option my shop immediately goes to and we do rebuild vanos units. The big thing is to make sure the oil pump disc holes are properly sized for the exhaust cam hub tabs.

Yea, I understand and respect a shops prerogatives, the biggest Euro shop in my area is more of a lube/brakes/suspension place than custom anything or doing anything that eats up a bay too long, this is my experience anyway, and that's fine.
When they told me they would replace the whole adjustment unit and not do any sort of rebuild I wasn't exactly surprised, just disappointed as I want wanted to "bulletproof" mine and not replace with the same component(s) that may fail.
Vanos repair vs. "bulletproofing" are two separate things but it is frustrating to not find a shop willing do a "bulletproof" job in your area if you are not able to do it yourself.

I’m going to go with the full Beisan rebuild. When they open the valve cover I’m sure they will tell me if I also need a new exhaust sprocket hub in addition to the new Oil pump disk. This isn’t going to be my forever car. Just something fun to drive on nice days till I decide it’s time to move on to something else.
