    Headliner and C pillar loose

2005 M3 coupe with sunroof. The extreme heat led to my headliner and C pillar fabric coming loose in-places. Is it best to reattach the same fabric, or buy new fabric or buy a new headliner? The headliner feels to padded?

For the pillars, it is possible to remove the pillar from the interior, pull back only the loose section, completely tape off and cover the loose fabric and all the other fabric (critical) on the pillar to avoid overspray, and use 3M Super77 to glue back the loose portion. Not sure if the same process can be used on the headliner due to the padding.

Or you just pull off the old loose fabric and reupholster it with new one.
This is 1:1 the same fabric: http://globalupholstery.com/product/...eadlining.html

I am looking for the c-pillar fabric. I bought some stuff, but it was not flexible and I can't make it conform to the shape. Any ideas?

It is my understanding that the c-pillar fabric is single layer and the headliner is foam backed.

BM3109 is the pillar fabric. I don't know why they say headliner on their website. BM134 would be the foam backed headliner material.

Headliner is foam backed and can’t be reattached with glue as the foam comes apart from fabric and makes a goop on the headliner panel. So glue won’t attach fabric unless you scrape all the old off. Very hard as well as messy.
The pillars can be reglued, just allow adhesive (3M) to get tacky first or the glue will bleed through the fabric.

So you’ll need new headliner fabric and scrape headliner to spray glue to fix.

Thanks to everyone who replied. you gave me the input that i needed to move to the level with this problem.

One last question, where should i source the two fabrics? I assume that they are OEM only.

The place m3_sancho linked sells it, if you contact them.

I just replaced them. But this was back in 2015, when the price seemed reasonable. Don't know what they cost now.

I received a sample of BM3109 from global upholstery. Can confirm it's the same stuff exactly. A little deceiving because the fabric has a thick felt backing, whereas the stuff that peeled off the pillars was extremely thin. It looks like what happened is the thin outer layer separated from the felt base, and left the felt base stuck to the plastic.

Thanks for the recommendation! I am going to recover my A, B, and C pillars. One day I will recover the purple rear deck.

How do you actually buy from these "Global Upholstery" guys? Their website has a reasonable display af fabric types and codes but you can't buy. On the the "contact" page there is a link to a web store missing all but one of the BMW headliners for example. Does that mean it's not stocked?

Edit: Ugh I searched for BM3109 and it does not find anything but I see now under BMW Cloth Headling where the picture is "BM1997 Titanium Grey" you can pick the colour then. To me that looked like the product was one colour only.

Edit 2: Anyone know how wide a yard of fabric is with this stuff?

Pretty sure Veteran Company fabrics based in Los Angeles also sells it. The are a major car fabric supplier, although their name is misleading. It’s used because they are Veterans.

I think I paid $100 apiece last year. Honestly for the effort involved to rewrap it myself, I felt like this was a decent deal.
