Water in Trunk

Hi,

I am getting water in the trunk that is typically on the Drivers Side.
It is usually located 9 out of 10 times under the floorboard - closest to the Drivers side Tailpipe, as it accumulates there.

Surprisingly, when I went through the car wash yesterday I also saw water underneath the battery compartment as well.



Note:
- The vehicle has an OEM trunk (originally had and Aftermarket CLS Trunk).
- The vehicle has had all 4 tail light gaskets replaced with new ones.

Look in the trunk from inside the car. Have someone else shine a flashlight around all the trunk edges with it closed and see if you can find gaps. Also have them hose it down and watch where the water comes in. Could be the trunk gasket not making contact.

mine tail light gasket is leaking into the battery compartment, maybe same here (other side)

Mine leaks in the same spot as well. Curious to what you find out. I noticed my OEM LED tail lights already condensate in heavy rain, and I'm now wondering if water is getting past the tail light gaskets.

I had the same issue where water breached the trunk’s perimeter seal. Then I got a Status Gruppe CSL fiberglass rep trunk, and voila (!), no more water in the trunk compartment. 😀

Check your taillight seal. I had same issue and new seal fixed it

This. Or, during the day, lay inside the trunk and look around the seal for daylight. The hose trick usually works, too.

One easy thing would be make sure you tightened down the tail lights enough. I had this problem, too, and even after I replaced the seals I still had a leak too small to be seen when I had a friend dump water on the trunk. Turns out I wasn't careful and didn't tighten down the bolts enough.

You may also want to check if the sunroof drain is clogged. With the the sunroof open, pour a cup of water onto the rear and front (separately) of the black plastic. The water should drain out by the wheel wells. It might be unlikely that a clogged drain would cause water to end up in the trunk, but it's something to check.
