Sparco QRT EVO-XL - fitment issues

Just wanted to share this with the community given my recent experience. I'm a bigger guy 6'1" 235lbs, size 38 waist; so in the search for a seat that fits, I encountered the Recaro Profi SPG XL and Sparco QRT EVO-XL.
Since the Recaro was recently recalled, I opted for the Sparco EVO-XL.

Long story short, after a couple of nights "tinkering" and fussing with various floor mounts, side mount brackets, including the Brey Krause R9256 (their widest side mount), a Sparco side mount, a VAC side mount and VAC floor mount, I couldn't get the seat to fit.

Thus, this is more of a word to the wise.......check fitment BEFORE buying seats. Fortunately, my local race shop: OG Racing of Sterling, VA was kind enough to accept a return despite the seat and mounts being test fitted.

Guess I'll just have to drop the cash on a set of Recaro Sportsters after all.

If anyone has Recaro Sportsters or other fixed bucket seats that fit big guys, and you're going to MPACT East, hit me up, I'd like to try them out before trying to buy another set of seats.

    APEX ARC-8's

I don't think the Sportsters are much of an upgrade over stock other than looks (that said, they also aren't a compromise anywhere). They're not much lighter, the harness holes are too low to safely use unless you're tiny, and they're not more supportive that stock.

If you can wait a week or so I'm about to drop a sparco pilot seat into my car. I'll let you know how it went but I cant see an issue because I somehow managed to get it into an E46 ZHP

A sparco pilot fits in with no fight. The back right bolt needs to be changed to a shorter version due to the car mount bracket I have. Otherwise it's pretty straight forward.

I appreciate the reply, however, I respectfully disagree about the support. Maybe it's how I'm built, but the lateral bolstering fits me much better than the stock seats. I'm not concerned with the harness holes given I'll be running the stock 3 point belt. Not too concerned with weight savings either at this point given I can't seem to find another bucket that will fit me while also fitting the car. I know you're a fan of the Nogaro's, but they're just too small to fit me. I'm in the process of installing a carbon roof, so I'll save weight that way.

Thanks for the follow-up! Good to know, unfortunately the full surround is out of the question given I daily the car.

I want to note I was able to make the QRT XL fit in my car with the MS seat brackets and sliders.

The hardest part of the fit was getting the MS brackets to agree with the width of the seat itself. Originally made sliding the seats super stiff. After a week or so of sitting it’s functioning better. Definitely still a bit stiff.

With the MS seat mounts it looks like the seat is shifted about 1/4” to the left. There is some room on the inside to correct this. I think the bracket may need some modification.

In its current position I was having the seat make contact with the door card. My car is fully gutted now, although I still think these would work with the stock interior after adjusting the seat a bit more center.

Yes! I haven’t went back in and adjusted it😂 not the most comfortable. Waiting on cage and harness to get it driving and fine tune the seat position

Unless you're tracking the car in a club that checks seat reg, you should have opted for the SPG XLs.

Damn, that seems like some work. Glad you were able to make it work for you though!

Yeah, I've heard good things, but was scared away by the "recall."
