That’s an enjoyable review. Nice car. Food for thought.

I saw this car in person last time I was at VT motorworks. That's original M texture. Super nice car.

I wonder how many other S3-Rs are in the Bay Area besides our 2.

Watching the video and hearing his comments in regards to SMG and then watching him shift, feel the delay and then comment on that...

It seems at if he didn't have the SMG shift speed maxed out or that that car could greatly benefit from the CSL SMG tune for the enabled 6th shift speed setting.

Zack is fair, balanced and a fantastic reviewer. Smart and esoteric.

Shame it was warm and he didn’t have the aforementioned CSL SMG settings!

I can appreciate that review, but that price sheet, wild for 2006. Imagine walking into Dinan back in the day, asking for a rear strut bar, they tell you, $299, you say ok awesome I'll take it. Then they ask for $250 to install the damn thing.

He clearly didn't have the shift speed up high enough. That seemed like level 4. But it wasn't his car so I can see why he wasn't in level 6 (DSC off) mode. Even 5 would have been better. Sure, you shouldn't need level 6 to get acceptable speed shifts, but it's either that or 2 feet + an arm. I obviously opt for the finger treatment between those choices.

maybe the owner set it for him and he just ran with that. the maxed out shiftspeed is noticeably uncomfortable for street driving, which is technically what he was doing

If the car wasn't so low, it probably would have handled better too. Don't get me wrong. I love that dropped look, but for spirited driving, I'll take function over looks.

Yeah, the car looks like it's bouncing off the internal bumpstops in those MCS dampers. The front rate is probably too high as well.

That’s certainly what I would do if it wasn’t my car.

But wait a minute… that’s exactly what I said already.
