    Sprung vs solid disc

I’m debating using an unsprung clutch disc in my car instead of the sprung one I have. I’m running a 14lb solid steel flywheel.
Anybody that has “actually” ran a setup like that that can give me a little feedback. I’m looking for better feel and positive engagement, but I’m not sure how much drive ability I’ll loose.
I don’t think loosing the dampening of that sprung disc should affect noise, but I’m not sure. The solid one is lighter. I have both discs new and ready to go in. Pulled the tranny back out again for a leaking rear main seal.

There's a current member on here that cannot figure why he has excessive noise running a lightweight flywheel and a solid hub. With your 14lb steel flywheel, the sprung hub is the recommended way to go to keep things civilized. That sprung disk IS the way you will eliminate noise. You will already get a significant benefit in feel having eliminated the DMF. I use the same 14 lb steel SMF with a sprung hub; its excellent.

Which flywheel are you using? I had a cheap chromoly one in my old e30 with an M52 swap, and I have no idea what was up but that clutch pedal was the most ridiculously stiff pedal I've ever experienced. For that reason I wrote off lighter flywheels because I won't know how stiff the clutch is going to be until it's all buttoned up, but all the benefits sound super appealing to me.

I purchased Rogue Engineering's performance clutch kit which comes with a JB Racing 14lb steel flywheel. The flywheel, pressure plate and disc all work well together and pedal effort is the same as a good condition factory clutch. Your experience was more related to the pressure plate selection than the flywheel itself.

The flywheel doesn't effect clutch pedal effort.

Sorry, don't mean to hijack this thread, but let me rephrase was I was trying to get at.
I know the flywheel has nothing to do with clutch feel but usually when I look for them they come with a whole clutch kit with no way of telling how stiff the pedal is going to be. I take it the OEM clutch doesn't fit on single mass flywheels?
