Going to have the brand new pump disc sent out to Beisan to be machined, and go through most of the seals in the unit with Beisan ones just to be safe. Unit has likely been sitting for years.
Mmm, if it is an new OE unit, don’t mess with it. The reason why seals fail was people following the OIC recommended by BMW. There is nothing wrong with them, and if you care for the car the VANOS will outlast you 😂. I would probably be more inclined to change the hub, than having your disc machined. Risk of it being swapped? I am that paranoic with my things lol

      That’s interesting
I thought the S62 springs are what’s recommended

My mechanic was going to discreetly mark it so we knew we were getting the same unit back aha. Also paranoid about that stuff. My only worry is, these units have likely been sitting for 10+ years. Just worried about the seals being extremely dried out at this point.

Same here, it’s what Beisan recommends at least.

thegenius46m Didn't you tell me that swapping the pump disc causes more issues and Beisan sends back shitty ones?

I have also heard this...decided to keep my brand new oil pump disc and just go with the Beisan Hub. Don't want to risk anything.

If the stock spring washer causes no rattle, keep it. Stronger S62 causes more wear and load down the vanos.

This is why I asked my friend to drill the disk, as vendor might accidentally swaps my disk. Drill disk instead of after market hub and save the money.

I would remove the pistons and feel the seals.
