INPA and DIS still the best for our cars?

    Hey guys,
First post on the new forum.

My old laptop where I had INPA and a VM with Easy DIS running is no more. I'm looking to setup something similar on my new laptop - is there a new solution around, preferably free? Or is this still the best combo? I don't mind paying if there is something that works out of the box either.

I paid for MSS5x for some easy ECU tweaks, but I need something to do deep scans, test VANOS pressure, etc

    Only ISTA+ would be better

virtualize the hard drive from that machine and make it platform agnostic. you can run it on any modern laptop as long as you can pass through serial/usb

Yeah, not an option unfortunately. I wiped the old laptop before donating it and forgot that all my BMW coding stuff was on there.

ISTA+ looks promising and low price. Does anyone know if my existing OBD cable will work with it? I vaguely remember having to get a specific OBD adapter that worked with INPA/NCS and modding it even, to bypass voltage or ignition detection or something?

With ISTA D/P/+ you are going to need an ICOM emulator or ICOM clone if I recall correctly (been some years) to do anything meaningful.

Does anyone have a download link for a proper setup INPA and ISTA?

Search Mike’s easy INPA download. I just downloaded a couple of weeks ago and it works great on a newish 64bit laptop. I used it both on my e46 and e92 M3.

                Here:

SINGLE INSTALLATION FILE. ZERO CONFIG. I have just finished spending the day creating an installation package that I think people will find very useful...

Try this for INPA, ISTA is a bit more involved and somewhat harder to find/install correctly.

That said INPA(Standard tools), DIS, ISTA are all available from the piratebay.se with use of a program such a bittorrent, I'll leave it there.

I would google "BMW standard tools" if the link I posted is dead you'll find something. Also most KDCAN cables come with standard tools (INPA) on a disc.

For ISTA and ease of install I might suggest getting it on ebay by either purchasing a hard drive pre-loaded with the software or for more $ and less hassle you can get a laptop with everything on it.

I got this a while back after giving up on my ISTA install and it has everything. But again for our vehicles an ICOM cable you will need for some things, a vanos test for instance.

I think INPA covers almost everything I will ever need and then I use DIS for a vanos test.

ISTA+ can work with your existing D-CAN cable? (not sure what it is called .. the OBD-USB serial cable that works with INPA.. )

google that big 1xx GB big image file for the ISTA+ .. load it up with virtualbox, and it has everything pre-installed and configured already ..

keyword should be .. BMW Coding V3 .. if i remembered correctly ..

With this vendor, are the INPA fault codes in English or Deutsch?
My current INPA install is in German and it drives me crazy having to use Google to translate.

I can't remember, I'll have to check that out as I have never used INPA on the eBay hard drive laptop.

My other laptop has INPA and it always been in German language which is annoying.

If you would find out, I would really appreciate it.
At one time, I had an INPA install in English. It was so much more convenient to use, but that laptop is now dead and I can't find the install discs.

INPA is easy to find. DIS is a different story.

I have a $550 Autel unit from Amazon.
