    Valve lift on 288/280 cams

I'm close to ordering 288/280 12.5mm lift cams for my S54, probably go with Schrick but I can't find a definitive answer on whether 12.5mm lift will have sufficient clearance from the stock pistons or if I'll have to machine the valve pockets a little deeper.
I've read "there is lots of clearance" to "it's not worth the risk".
Does someone with these cams installed have a solid answer?
    Thanks

Assuming you don't get the high lift variant (which is 14mm), 12.5mm is standard lift and will not have issues. With high lift you will have to swap out quite a bit, including springs, pistons, etc.

Plenty of people have used 288/280 on stock pistons they are barely different to 280/272 from a p to v standpoint
