SGT stuff is junk. Sound seems basically the same, hard to pinpoint any difference. SGT gives you ability to adjust tips, but now, I think it's more of an excuse for the factory to manufacture the mufflers to worse tolerances and SGT can tell you "just adjust the tips."
Thanks. You would recommend tracking down a used Oakville over a new SGT?
Not really, I doubt you'll find one. The SCZA isn't so bad that I'd steer people away from it. Just try to get a good deal, remember that it's aftermarket when you're installing it, and enjoy the larger piping and great sound.
The OG Scorza isn't perfect either. Known for some cracked welds and, installed by me on 3 separate cars, it sits too far to the driver side (shim it with washers at the last driver side hanger). Tips also droop a bit - at least SGT's are adjustable. OG tips are also limited to stainless and black 76mm while SGT has 76 & 82mm plus Ti and raw finishes beyond stainless/black.

Many thanks, Sir. I appreciate the details. Guess I will wait for another SGT coupon or GB.
You're welcome. I swear they're still honoring the 2019 black friday price (like $950 iirc). Or just wait till this black friday. Prepare to wait a while and/or for it to be delivered with dents.
It sounds like a Honda driving around town, I think going to try to trade someone their SS race for my SS sport.
I found that too.. anything more than half throttle and it started to sound tacky. SS race is worse IMO. It sounds ok on otherwise bone stock exhaust systems but once you start changing other components it's pure dumb noise.
Here's my semi-current setup:
SS V1 stepped
SS V1 race cats
SS dual 2.5" (with resonator)
SS sport
Had a very nice deep sound but kind of flat up top. Oddly, the sport muffler droned ~2700rpm. It annoyed me enough to get rid of it. Everyone said it doesn't drone, but it did.
I went to a Dinan and was much happier despite the🤦♂️ dummy tips.. it recaptured alot of the original sound of my old s50b32 and wailed more at higher rpm's.
Currently have been enjoying the full SS setup into a stock muffler. Other mufflers i've had:
Borla Sport (not ATAK)
Milltek
AA gen 3
Mevius
Eisenmann Race
SCZA
Meisterschaft Ti
Does the SS sport have 2.5" internal piping? I went with the SCZA because of the internal 2.5" piping. Seemed silly to have SSv1 and oversized section 1 and 2 only to neck down to 2.25" at the muffler. I also have the Oakville SCZA. Love the sound.

Interesting, how do you like the three SS pieces into the stock muffler? I have the SSv1 with cats into stock section 2 and muffler, any chance you’ve run that for comparison? I think my exhaust setup kind of sounds like crap and wondering if the SS 2.5” section 2 would help. Luckily I only hear the airbox from the driver’s seat, but whenever I hear the exhaust for one reason or another ... 🤦♂️

Yes scza is 2.5" everywhere. Ss mufflers are 2.37" not 2.25". Piping diameter being larger is more important at the headers and sect1 than sect2 &3 so not the end of the world having a 2.37" muffler. The full 2.5" exh thing is really for big power builds. Most of us are modded yes, but at like 300-350whp not 350+

I'm 350whp+ ...but yes I get your point, its not a huge difference, I just hate an unnecessary restriction when the rest of the exhaust has been carefully picked. Doesn't hurt I love the sound of the SCZA.

+1 to all of this! I currently have the SGT Resonated X-pipe + SCZA v3 (83mm black tips) and it does sound great... but the install was a bit finicky and the coating on the tips was crap. I had mine redone with ceramic coating and no issues since.
This weekend I'll be installing the BW Street/Track exhaust (diffuser exit, keeping the euro cats), as the car's moving towards more track duty. Once I get my post count up I'll post a FS thread. :-)

It sounds OK. Volume wise it's barely louder than stock with less chainsaw. Still has a little signature E46 rasp though but deeper under load + less tinny sounding. The SS sport droned at 75-80mph, and since FL is all straight roads/highways, that's exactly where I spent the most time which led to me not looking forward to driving the car... so to be fair i'm enjoying it simply because it doesn't actually bother me. I think the non-resonated section 2 would have been a better choice with the stock muffler if I had planned the system this way but it would not change the actual sound much; probably just a couple clicks louder.
I never paired SS with the stock section 2; it went on my other (white) E46 when I installed the entire SS system on the black one in the video. But it did bring back a noticeable amount of chainsaw on the white one which only continues to confirm that each of the four stock exhaust components will contribute their own element to the signature stock sound.. for better or worse.
What exactly do you want to change about the sound of yours? I can better suggest whatever you're trying to achieve because the 2.5" section 2 alone may or may not be enough.
