    Halogen > LED lighting upgrade

Has anyone gone ahead and upgraded their halogen H7 low beams to LED lights? I'm considering the Philips Ultinon Pro9000 LED bulbs, but not sure how much of a headache it will be to find the right adapter to get them installed properly. Thanks in advance!

Please do not put Plug N Play (PNP) LED bulbs in a halogen reflector housing. All you will do is blind oncoming traffic, have a horrible cutoff and crappy overall performance.
A proper retrofit is the answer.

Thanks for the heads-up! Looks like I'll go with some brighter halogen bulbs for the time being.

there is nothing wrong with proper approved LED in Halogen housings.

Here in Germany, Philip has design and approved LED lights to be used in halogen housings. I have no idea if these are available in the US Market yet.

the take home message here is "filament" placement of LED bulbs is critical in picking the best lightbulb for any particular housing, and unfortunately, is extremely variable between bulb makers

Philip has obviously found a way for it work in different cars. This is why its approved on German/EU roads.

Morimoto is selling these Osrams in the US for "off-road use" (ie not street legal)
I'm actually thinking of getting some halogen housings and using these bulbs if/when my HID's die. They have a D2S version, but I'm not sure how well they would work with the bixenon housings.

They don't look like them unfortunately. I will stick to test approved products rather than that. Not to mention the price.

                          They are only 99€ here.

Interestingly, these aren't listed as approved in Germany. Just the E90 and F30 3 series.

Mit der NIGHT BREAKER LED bringt OSRAM erstmals eine legale LED-Lampe als Austauschprodukt zur Halogenlampe in die Scheinwerfer Ihres Autos. Zur Fahrzeugliste.

So do you put your car in the house so you can plug those bulbs into the 110 ac?
