Is there a consensus on whether a newly installed oil cooler needs to be primed? I've seen suggestions about pouring oil down the hoses, and I am just wondering if this is neccessary?

I poured oil in my oil filter housing to get some oil in there. The capacity gets increased to about 6.5L when it's drained according to the manual. This appeared pretty accurate. All I know it a little over half a liter disappeared before backing up into the filter housing. You can try this. I would be very hard to get oil into the cooler after it's installed otherwise. This is my Unbuild Journal and why we need an oil thread
